NDC Infrared Engineering was formed in 1998 when Infrared Engineering, Ltd. merged with NDC Systems, Inc. Infrared Engineering, Ltd. was operated as a private company until 1992 when it joined Spectris. NDC Systems, Inc. was privately owned until 1997 when it too joined Spectris. NDC Infrared Engineering has two manufacturing facilities; one in Irwindale, California and the other in Maldon, Essex UK. Corporate offices are located in Guangzhou, China and Langen, Germany with representation in over 50 countries worldwide.

The TFOD coating facility contains Balzers vacuum deposition chambers for precision manufacturing of optical interference filters and a fully equipped spectrophotometer suite for spectral analysis.
